This year Eid will be different than any we have celebrated over the years. With most of us practicing social distancing we will not be able to visit the mosque for Eid prayers, have family over for brunch or go visit our friends. I have an idea though to bring back an old tradition to face these new times. Include your family and friends in your Eid celebrations this year by mailing them simple Eid gifts.
These Eid gifts do not need to be expensive or elaborate. You also have to cater to the size and weight you can send by post.
Keeping postal limitations in mind, here are some ideas:
Pop-up Eid Cards
Take your Eid cards up a notch by making 3D pop-up cards. They are super fun. We have the full tutorial on the blog here.
The first thing your receiver will hold in their hands is the envelope. Oh, the excitement of receiving an envelope in the mail with your name on it, that’s not a bill (adult life issues)!
You can decorate envelopes with the “Eid Mubarik” washi tapes available from Happy Street.
Krafts Designs has Eid themed envelopes and stickers.
You can also get the lovely Eid envelope printables from Big Ideas Graphics.
Love the Eid stamps by Canada Post that will give your envelope more Eid feels!
Found these lovely Henna tattoos on amazon that came out brilliantly on the skin.
You can add a sheet with your card because they can be mailed easily.
Here is the amazon link to buy them:
Boys and little kids don’t have to be left out. Found these fun tattoos by Melissa and Doug on amazon:
We love the pencils available at Happy Street. They have themes for Eid and for little Muslims such as “Rabbe Zidne Ilma”, “Start with Bismillah”, “Super Muslims” etc.
These can be easily added in a mail envelope.
Gift cards as “Eidi” can also be added in the mail.
I printed a customized one with our family picture from Tim Hortons. Amazon also has gift cards of various values and an option to print customized ones.
More Ideas for Eid Gifts that can be mailed
Here are some more ideas for Eid gifts that you can be added along with your eid cards:
- Eid balloons
- Scratch card kits
- Eid frames: you can customize these for Eid so that families can use them for their Eid family pictures.
- Small activity books
I have linked some of the products we used here:
The best part about this whole activity is that it really gets children in the spirit and mood for Eid.
Bring back an old traditional by mailing Eid gifts and greeting cards this year!
