Bollywood Movies Shot in Alberta

Alberta is a beautiful province in Canada that I love calling home. With the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be honeymooning in Jasper, Alberta, there is buzz around tourism in the province again. But did you know that Bollywood has featured the beautiful mountains and lakes of the Canadian Rockies too? Here is a list of Bollywood movies shot in Alberta. A big thank you to my friend Sadia from Nazli Events who helped me put together this list.

1. Tum Bin (2001)

Tum Bin became quite famous back in the day even though it had a brand new cast. What I remembered from the movie was that it had a lot of snow! Little did I know then that the movie was shot in Calgary and around Alberta!

9. International Khilari (1999)

Akhsay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna starred together in International Khilari that was shot in Calgary (even though Akhsay Kumar is saying that he is in Brampton in the scene below! Caught you Mr. Khilari because we can see the Calgary Tower pretty clearly in the background)! Is Calgary the town they fell in love with as they shared in Coffee with Karan? Hmmm, interesting!

I’m sure this is not an exhaustive list, so let me know if you know of more Bollywood movies shot in Alberta! Would love to add to this list. Again a big thank you to my friend Sadia from Nazli Events who helped me put together this list.

Have you visited any of the places shown in these movies?

  1. Hello I was wondering if you would be able to help me out with something! So about two years ago I played a small role in a bollywood production and I’m trying to find out what the name of the movie is. The scene that I was in was shot in the old remand center in Edmonton where I played as one of the security guards scanning a lawyer who is visiting the main protagonist. If this sounds familiar please let me know what movie it is as I would love to see it. Thank you.
