San Luis Resort Review: 5 Reasons That Make This Resort Super Family Friendly

We stayed at the San Luis Resort in Galveston (Texas) this July and absolutely loved it! The resort is beachfront, comfortable and best of all super family friendly. Here is my San Luis Resort review, with five reasons that made the stay memorable for our family.

1. Just an Hour from Houston

If you have kids you know distance is a big deal! The San Luis Resort is just an hour away from Houston, making it a convenient staycation if you live in Houston, or a mini getaway within your Houston visit.

We were visiting family in Houston (Jaffar’s chacha) and the resort was a great opportunity for us to get a beach and pool experience which we, like all Canadians, are extremely starved of!

2. Beachfront

There are lots of advantages of the resort being beachfront. There are amazing views from the room, that you can enjoy during nap time or when you have to head to the room early for bed time. It’s also super easy accessing the beach and head back when the kids are tired.

3. Pool Fun

The Cove is the pool area of the resort. The kids loved their time playing in the water. As parents we appreciated the efficient pool side service, lots of seating options and cabanas (available for rent). And those chilled towels we were offered in the heat were the best!

4. Resort Activities

The resort has lots of activities for children such as crafts, movies at night and let’s not forget Phydias the macaw from South America. He makes an appearance between 8am and 5pm daily and might even talk to you if you’re lucky!

5. San Luis Resort Review: Eating Options

The resort is huge and there are many quality eating options both on site and near the resort. We had breakfast at Blake’s and an Italian dinner at Grotto’s and enjoyed our meals thoroughly.

San Luis Resort review

I wanted to do our San Luis resort review from our perspective as a family of five. However, I feel couples and older couples will enjoy their stay there equally. With so much do, you will definitely find something to do.

You can also explore the other Galveston Island attractions such as the Pleasure Pier, which is walking distance from the resort that is also on the seawall boulevard. There are many historic tours available on the island and fun bike rental options on the beach. July is a hot month in Texas, and we stayed on the resort due to the heat.

Hope you enjoyed our San Luis Resort review. Let me know if you have any questions!
