Best Parenting Books That I Recommend for All Parents!

Today I would like to talk about some of my favorite and the absolute best parenting books that have helped shape my parenting style and helped me with various challenges. I highly recommend these books for all parents!

1. How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and How to Listen So Kids Will Talk

This classic book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlich is a parenting bible that I recommend to all parents since I have seen it work in my house! The book comes with practical advice for parents to build loving homes where all emotions are accepted and issues resolved with mutual understanding.

2. How to talk So Little Kids Will Listen

Adele Faber’s daughter wrote this book with another mother for little kids (2-7) building on the principles of the classic “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk”. Since this one is more recent, it also tackles some current parenting issues and those for younger children like picky eaters, bed time struggles etc.

3. Siblings Without Rivalry

Whenever a friends tells me that she is having a second child, I recommend them to read this classic book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlich. Be warned that you will also feel a lot of personal angst as this book will bring back many memories from your own childhood.

Siblings are extremely important in our lives and play a strong part in developing our personalities. Sibling relationships can however be complex, alternating between love, jealousy, trust, hate etc. As parents we want our children to get along and be on the same team but many times our own words and actions pit them against each other.

You definitely need this book in your life!

4. Five Love Languages of Children

All of us love our children but do they feel loved? I include this book in my list of best parenting books because it helps a parent identify the love language of their child to best connect with them. Through this book I realized that Zeynab’s love language is quality time, whereas Hussain’s is touch and gifts. I highly recommend this book to all parents to help fill their buckets.

5. Bringing up Bebe

This is a super interesting narrative of an american mother discovering the gems of french parenting. While I don’t agree with the entire book (especially the need of sending children to childcare in the early years), it’s well-written, keeps you engaged and you learn valuable lessons along the way.

6. What to Expect Series

The ‘What to Expect’ series is one of the most well-known parenting series. It definitely helped me as a new parent. When we decided to have children I read the book “What to Expect Before You’re Expecting” and helped me prepare my mind and body for the journey of parenting ahead.

‘What to Expect: The First Year’ is also a great guide for parents.

Hope you enjoy this list of my favorite and best parenting books. Hope they help you all!
