How to eat halal at Walt Disney World Orlando

How to Eat Halal at Walt Disney World Orlando

This is how you can eat Halal at Walt Disney World in Orlando! Save this post for your next trip! We were invited by Disney for a wonderful week in Walt Disney World to enjoy Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I did some research before going about how to eat Halal at Walt Disney World and here is everything I learnt, inside tips and restaurant recommendations to make the best of your trip!

How to Eat Halal at Walt Disney World by Restaurant Types

There are two types of restaurants at Disney World: the Quick Service ones where you can just walk up and the Table Service/Fine Dining ones which require reservations before hand.  The Quick Service restaurants are more casual, don’t have table service and more affordable. The Table Service/Fine Dining restaurants are more formal, reservations are required and they are more expensive. These also include special Disney experiences such as character dining etc.  Both these restaurants have different ways to eat halal at Walt Disney World so I will talk separately about them.

Quick Service Restaurants that Serve Halal at Walt Disney World

Here is a list of Quick Service Restaurants which have halal options available in their menu (not the entire menu). You do not need to call or book before hand. However, currently you can not order halal meals via the Disney World app. You will need to order at the counter and mention you want a halal meal. There is an additional 15-20 mins wait time.

We had the halal chicken club sandwich at ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios and it was delicious. Zeynab had fish tacos and the staff replaced the beans with rice when we informed them of our halal preference since the beans had non-halal meat gravy.

We also had the Satu’li Bowl at Satu’li Canteen in Animal Kingdom where both the chicken and beef were halal. The bowls were delicious. We actually did takeaway that day and brought the food to our hotel room to eat.

Table Service/Fine Dining Restaurants that Serve Halal at Walt Disney World

For table service/formal dining restaurants you need to make a reservation via the Walt Disney app and call (407) WDW-DINE 24 hours ahead to request a halal meal. I had read on a few FAQs that some Walt Disney Table Service restaurants always have halal options such as Sci-Fi Dine-In TheaterSpice Road Table, and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant but this was not our experience. All Table Service restaurants require a 24 hour prior notice via calling (407) WDW-DINE.

Make your dining reservations well ahead of time because the popular dinner timings go fast! We did a mix of Quick Service and Table Service restaurants and planned our park days accordingly.

In Epcot we had dinner at Spice Table Road. The seasoned Moroccan chicken was halal and delicious. They can also do a halal steak. There were great seafood and vegetarian options on the menu also.

At Magic Kingdom we had the formal Be My Guest experience at Beast’s Castle and the steak and chicken was halal. The experience to eat in the Ballroom was so magical and super fun! Being able to eat halal was cherry on top!

We also booked a dinner reservation at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant and the halal steak was amazing! There are always seafood and vegetarian options at all restaurants and if you mention your halal preference they will make sure there is no cross contamination.

The Disney cast members were extremely well-versed in halal food preferences and even able to advice us which other menu items could be made halal with substitutions.

So in summary you can walk-up to select quick service restaurants for halal meals at Walt Disney World and call 24 hour ahead for halal preferences with your dining reservations.

We throughly enjoyed our experience to eat halal at Walt Disney World in Orlando and it totally enhanced our Disney experience. Hope this posts also helps you to plan your Disney trip!
