If you know us, you know much we love Urdu, a Urdu story time and having lots of fun! We are visiting Islamabad these days and got a wonderful opportunity to share the joy of Urdu with other children at a lovely local school, Annie’s ELC. Read all about our visit to the school here.
My daughter Zeynab (aged 6) and I have been been doing our Urdu Story Time through Facebook live videos for many months now from Canada. When Annie Malik, the founder of Annie’s ELC, contacted me for a story time at her school, I was delighted! We are visiting Pakistan and this was a wonderful opportunity to meet the children who watch our story time face to face!
We loved the warm welcome we got from the teachers and students at the school. The dedication of the staff to the children and their learning was evident from the smiles on the faces of the students.
We sang songs, shared stories and had lots of silly fun in Urdu. It was amazing to watch that so many children knew the songs and participated enthusiastically.
We shared a live feed of our session for the children and their parents who follow us from all around the world and you can enjoy it here:
The power of stories and songs in such that bonds are developed easily and soon we all felt we had known each other for ages! As we said goodbyes, hugs were exchanged and everyone had big smiles on their faces. Zeynab especially loved meeting and interacting with children her age who loved Urdu just like her. As we left the school, we heard the children start their afternoon session with the Urdu Mom welcome song “Ayein Ayein App Sab Ayein”, and I loved the twinkle in Zeynab’s eye as she realized that what we had shared today will continue to grow through other children.
Let’s all keep spreading the love and joy of Urdu!
Loving your journey as Urdu Mom, MaShaAllah! Allah bless.
It was a true pleasure having you and Zeynab at Annie’s ELC.
Thankyou for spreading the love of Urdu amongst our little ones all over the world! This was a much needed initiative that a lot of families are benefiting from.
Wish you the very best 🙂
