Potatoes are my favourite vegetable! Here is an easy recipe for spicy potatoes that is a great side. You can eat these spicy potatoes with baked salmon, daal chawal, chicken tikka or even with Turkey for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend.
I made these Potatoes in my Instant Pot, but if you don’t have one, there is a method to make it without also.
ingredients:
Baby potatoes, cumin seeds (zeera), chaat masala, kala namak, red chilli powder, salt and oil.
Spicy Potatoes Recipe
With Instant Pot:
- Add one cup hot water to the pot with a little salt. Now place the trivet inside the pot and place the baby potatoes on it. Sprinkle a little salt.
- Close the lid and put on Manual pressure for 4 minutes.
- Release the steam and open the lid after it’s done.
- Take out the potatoes and place on the side.
- Clean the pot of the remaining water.
- Put on the Instant Pot on Saute mode and add some oil.
- Add cumin seeds (zeera), chaat masala, kala namak, red chilli powder and salt. Fry it for a minute.
- Now add two tablespoons of water and the potatoes.Make sure the potatoes are covered well with the spices.
- Switch off the Instant Pot and cover the lid for a minutes. The spicy potatoes are done.
- If you like the potatoes a little burnt on the outside, put in the oven under “Broil” for a couple of minutes.
Without Instant Pot:
- Add water to a pot with a little salt. Bring to boil and add the baby potatoes.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes and then strain out the potatoes.
- Heat some oil in a saucepan.
- Add cumin seeds (zeera), chaat masala, kala namak, red chilli powder and salt. Fry it for a minute.
- Now add two tablespoons of water and the potatoes. Make sure the potatoes are covered well with the spices.
- Cover the saucepan and cook in the steam till the potatoes are done.
- If you like the potatoes a little burnt on the outside, make sure you dry all the water.
