When I was a kid I heard my mother say things like “Ankhein hain ya button, samne rakhi cheez nazar nahi ati” and I promised myself I would never repeat them when I grew up. However, now that I’m a mom I see myself repeat some of those typical desi mom dialogs in moments of complete frustration! Turns out I’m not the only one. When I posed the question on facebook, I got a hilarious list of comments. Here are all of them! Which ones do you use on your children?
“Aik maa naukar mili huee hai”
“Kisi ko ehsaas nahi hai“
“Har waqt tv, har waqt tv, itni moti ainak lag jaye gee. Aisa karna iss tv ko le jana imtehaan denay“
“Achi tarhan roo lo, jub thak jao to bata dena”
“Majaal hai jo pehli dafah baat samajh mein aa jaye”
“Meri taraf se ijazat hai, Abu se pooch lo“. And as soon as Abu says no, the mom switches teams. “Haan koi nahi Jana, mein toh pehlay hee keh rahee thee”
“Dimagh ki chatni bana di ha”
“Fridge hai, Almari nahi”
“Fridge may shisha laga ha? Band Karo Isay”
“Mat parho rehri he lagana“
“Dimaagh nahi kharaab karo mera”
“Banda itna bhi sust na ho”
“Aqal badi ya bhains”
“Jab apni aulad ho ge to phir pata chalay ga”
بہرے ہو کیا آواز نہیں آتی ۔۔۔ پکار پکار کر گلا بیٹھ گی
زرا ہل لو، بیٹھے بیٹھے ٹانگیں جڑ جائیں گی
“Paise to darakht par ughte hain”
“Ma pagal ho jao ge…mujh akela chor do thora”
“Tameez ka muzhaira karo”
“Aram se bheth Jao, ye wrestling band karo. WWF nae hai, ghar hai“
اماں کا نام رکھوانا دوسرے گھر جاکے
“Kitne dafa kehna pare ga”
“Jaldi khana kha lo warna Budha baba aa jaayega”
“Mottay damagh main kuch samjh atta hay”
“Bilkul apne baap per gaye hain”
“Koi cheeze chahay rastay main pari ho kisi ko nazar hi nahin aati”
“Bahur ki dunya bahut kharab he“
“Insaan ke bachay bano”
Hope you enjoyed all these Desi mom dialogs! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this really funny list. Would you add a dialog of your own here?
Yesterday I was watching darss on islamic teaching to kids while these little men started shouting. I said,”kya mera dimagh khaa rukha hai”. My little 3 yr said to 5 yrs, what mummy saying..have we eaten her head ??
That made me laugh and stopped me what I was watching and we giggled altogether.
Heheh awww that’s sooo sweet!!
Hahaha! That’s so cute! Thanks for sharing and commenting! Keep dropping by 🙂
My mom during summer vacations used to say in Punjabi
“Uth ja… Sari dehari manjay trorrdi (breaking bed) rehndi aey”
Hahhah!! I love the flow and frankness of Punjabi!!
Hahaha I know that one 😉
Lolz too good !!
Thanks for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed it 😉
When kids are not listening or not eating food a dialogue used to come to us and now I use it too? ” Mei 5 tak count Karon gi jaldi karo warna buhat bura Ho ga” and than the counting never used to reach 5 n we n my kids now used to act upon the instructions given ??
Hahaha! Great strategy 😉 I need to try that!
I am tooooo… scared to share this on Facebook publicly as both my parents are on my account ;). I bet my mom will read it and immediately whatsapp to the family group: ‘Kya Khabees Aulad hai! Saab kuch kiya aur yeh bataein kartae hain’ 😉 .lol!
Hahahha ?
Ahahaha!!! It had my laughing so badly ???
It’s all that and alot more and now as a mom I have started to do the same ???
Tum meri maa nahi, mein tumhari maa hun???
My mom always says in a blackmailing tone trying to make me feel guilty “Jis din ham nahi honge na us din hamari baatein yaad aayengi” ?
Hahahah! Good old days!
“Achi tarhan roo lo, jub thak jao to bata dena” This line can also goes to every boy in the college who ‘cry river’ to get on your softer side 🙂
Loool, this is classic stuff
Haha thanks !
