Nextdoor YYC and Owl’s Nest in Calgary are offering free delivery. While Liberty Books in Pakistan offers delivery across the country.
Books to Read During COVID-19 Pandemic
Becoming by Michelle Obama
What an inspiring read! I love how Michelle Obama shares her journey, including the triumphs and mistakes along the way. We learn about the comprises they made and how she has kept her family together while making history with her husband.
I loved how Michelle shows us that there is not one way to be female: You can be kind, motherly, homely, driven, and motivated, all at the same time!
I was lucky enough to listen to an audio book narrated by Michelle Obama herself!
Educated by Tara Westover
I finished this book in two nights! and the fact that it’s a true story will blow your mind! We realize the value education has for the marginalized and how hard their journey can be. Gives you unique perspective.
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Here is another book that gives unique perspective about a prevalent social issue. I will not disclose what the issue is because that will be a big spoiler. I can however assure you that you won’t be able to put the book down till you finish it!
Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal
Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal is a delight for any fan of Jane Austen. Her story is an adaption of “Pride and Prejudice” to Pakistan’s social life and a commentary on class and the politics of society. I loved it!
Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
If you love facts and history with a mix of behavioural economics you will love this latest book by Malcolm Gladwell! I listened to the audio book narrated by Gladwell himself and highly recommend it.
The Mother-in-law by Sally Hepworth
Have you ever wondered how your mother-in-law is viewing a situation as you both experience it? I loved Sally Hepworth’s “The Mother-in-law” for the double narration plus it’s a murder mystery! Lots to discuss in this book!
The Twentieth Wife and The Feast of Roses
Both these books by Indu Sundaresan are historical fictions and provide us a great look into the world of Empress Noor Jehan and Emperor Jehangir. I loved them!
Love Minus Eighty by Will McIntosh
I recommended this one for our book club last year and it’s amazing how we are already living some aspects of this science fiction. This book gives you a lot to think about!
The Kitchen Counter Cooking School by Kathleen Flinn
All of us are realizing the value of home cooked meals more than ever in these days! I love this book with the love and passion it introduces us to cooking techniques, tips and tricks. Whether you are an experienced or a new cook, you will find a lot to learn and inspire you in this book!
Hope you enjoyed this list of books to read during COVID-19. What are you reading these days?
I must say that if you’re a parent, you must read these books also! Plus here are some tips to get back into the habit of reading!
