What is Maktab?
Maktab is a platform by Tamania aka Urdu Mom through which we will be offering online classes for children and adults. We have lots of fun plans to make Urdu language, culture and religious learning fun and engaging. After our extremely successful "Welcome Ramzan and Prophet Stories for Kids", 8-week summer Islamiyat classes and online art classes, we are super excited to be back with our interactive online art classes for children and young adults with Ms. Mariam Jaffri!
Eik Khaas Safar: An Art Journey Through The Muslim World ~ Feb - March 2024
Let's embark on a special journey...an art journey through the Muslim world. The Kutubiyya Mosque in Marrakesh (Morroco), Bibi-Khanym Mosque in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Grand Mosque in Sana'a (Yemen), Rohtas Fort in Jhelum City (Pakistan) and Taj Mahal in Agra (India), are beautiful examples of Muslim architecture and opens doors to glorious periods in Muslim history.
Objective
The objective of these classes is for children and adults to develop their muslim identity through knowledge of Muslim history with the medium of art. We want them to have fun and learn about Muslim history and architecture through geographic and historical references.
Class details
Each class will have five sessions of one hour each. Students will paint a unique monument from Muslim history in every class: Kutubiyya Mosque in Morroco, Bibi-Khanym Mosque in Uzbekistan, Grand Mosue in Yemen, Rohtas Fort in Pakistan and Taj Mahal in India. They will build upon painting techniques in each class. We have organized the classes in 4 groups divided by age: 5-7, 8-10, 11-14 and a special class for adults.
In each class the students will create an art piece while gaining insightful knowledge about culture and heritage of the Muslim world. Experience a relaxing environment allowing students to be positively stimulated through these art classes.
The medium of instruction will be English. An art supply list will be provided with the welcome email once you register.
