Oats Pizza Recipe

This is a healthy and versatile oats pizza recipe that we love making at home. The pizza can be adapted for many different tastes and the kids can be involved to make fun shapes. The best part is that this is a guilt-free and wholesome pizza, you can feed your family with confidence!

Oats Pizza Recipe

I got this oats pizza recipe from my mother-in-law and like all old recipes go, it’s quite fool proof!

Ingredients:

Oats flour         1 cup

All purpose flour  1 cup

Instant yeast      3 teaspoon

Oil                3 tablespoon

Milk               1 cup

Ajwain             1 tablespoon

Flax seeds         1 tablespoon

Mozzarella Cheese  2 cups

Pizza sauce        1 cup

Salt               1 teaspoon

Sugar              1 teaspoon

For toppings: arugula, shiitaki mushrooms, olives, or anything of your choice!

For oats flour, you can either grind oats in a coffee blender or buy oats flour from the market.

How to:

Add one cup of oats flour, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt and 3 teaspoon instant yeast in a bowl with 3 tablespoon of oil and mix well. Now add 1 cup of warm milk and mix more. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon ajwain, flax seeds and keep mixing.
Add 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour slowly and keep kneading so that a nice dough forms. Cover and place in a warm spot for 2 hours for the dough to rise.

Once the dough is ready, take out a ball and flatten it in a circle. Stretch out in an oven-friendly tray that has been greased.

My children love making fun shapes.

You can bake the pizza just like this for a plain cheese oats pizza or add fun toppings!

We like to add arugula and chopped shiitaki mushrooms on the pizza for the grownups. You can also add cooked chicken or meat!

Bake in a preheated oven at 425F for 15 minutes.

Let the pizza sit for 5 minutes before eating.

This recipe will make one large pizza or two small ones! The kids take extra joy in eating their own cooking. Zeynab made a heart shaped one and Hussein a round one.

You can double the recipe to make two large pizzas.

The above is a round-shaped pizza we made with the same oats pizza recipe using arugula and shiitake mushrooms as toppings.

It was quite delicious and wholesome.

By the way, a fun fact from colour psychology is that you eat less if you eat in a blue plate!

Another healthy pizza recipe is a cauliflower pizza.
